The Queensberry Line is quite unusual, and this is due to various circumstantial events that led to its formation. A Line is a succession of initiates that stem from the same original Coven, and in this case, it all started in Boston.
ORIGINS OF THE LINE
Karagan in New Hampshire, MA 2007
The Queensberry line has two distinct roots; the Boston Line with the Du Bandia Grasail Coven, and London, with Maxine Sanders. The former is a line that originated in Boston around 1970. From DuBandia Grasail came Lady Morven who became the High Priestess and Witch Queen of the NFG line after three Covens hived off of the NFG Coven. Karagan Griffith was initiated into the Du Bandia Grasail/NFG line in all three degrees, with the same Priestess presiding all them. Lady Morven and Jimahl di Fiosa were present at all of Karagan's initiations. As he formed new Covens, first Luna Matris (Salem) and later, the Queensberry Coven (Boston) the, lineage within these covens took a new direction.
After the commencement of the work in Luna Matris, Karagan felt that there were a lot of essential pieces missing from the American/Boston practice. There are various possible reasons how and why this could have come to be the case, but more importantly, questions were asked, and answers were given. At the time, Karagan maintained contact with Maxine Sanders, who very generously shared her views and filled in a lot of the gaps that were felt to be in the original training. The practices of the Coven began to take a different shape and direction, as Karagan sought to recover the original methods of training and teachings from the London Coven and the later Temple of the Mother, directly from one of its sources. By circumstance, a Priestess was taken through the training directly by Maxine, and a collaborative endeavor developed. The Priestess came to the Temple of Luna Matris to practice and at the same time assisting and sharing aspects of the training, directly from Maxine. Karagan learned enormously from this collaborative work and applied the teachings to the Coven practice, as well as supported by continuous private sessions and conversations with Maxine directly.
THE PRACTICE CHANGED
From these original practices were drawn the effectiveness of direct basic training. The Coven was determined to settle for nothing less than good basic training and evolved. It integrated the new found practice, adjustments and corrections and continued, now more in tune with the original structure as taught by Alex and Maxine. Each Coven has its own identity, and Luna Matris wasn't an exception, so along with the basics, work was developed in the Coven itself that enhanced the practices inspired by the teaching.
In 2015 the Coven moved from Salem to Boston, and it took a new name; "Queensberry Coven."
